asa pretending i'm his car
i try to refrain from saying i have favorites among the little people in my family, but asa often compels me to want to say it.
i love his sense of humor. he likes to be teased, and i like to tease. he likes to tell stories, and i like to listen. he retells scenes from movies constantly. he remembers details. he likes to drink chai tea with his mom in the morning. he sucks his thumb. he painted a little with me today. his favorite color is blue. he has a good eye. he gave me a tattoo on my leg today. yesterday he asked if i would draw a lizard on his foot. all things i like.
but i think what makes me adore him most is that he was hard for me to win over. he used to be shy and push me away when i would try to hold him. really, i don't think he liked me. last christmas amy saw him laughing and talking with michelle and for a second she thought it was me with him, and said: oh good, asa's finally being nice to kelly. not quite.
but i spent a month at his house this summer and we became good friends. i like that he now lets me hold him while he sucks his thumb, and that he'll call my name through the house to tell me a story.
asa means: healer. i think he is.
Kelly, include that picture in my stack!!!! I LOVE it.... What is the name of the song we kept playing...roll baby??? I love you man, and I miss you crazy...The brown one,

And I see you're wearing your $1 dress! I am going to the thrift store this weekend in hopes of finding a "wear all-the-time" dress. Also, for sweaters.

Posted by: kelly at October 14, 2004 09:56 AMAlso? Our very old car is on its last leg. We've been trying to save up for a new one. Would you be interested in being our new car? ;)
Posted by: Jamie at October 14, 2004 10:49 AMsure jamie, i'd be glad to, but i won't promise to move very fast.
Posted by: kelly at October 14, 2004 06:37 PMamy, you should consider either Westfield Red or Clementine Red. they're two of my favorites.
