wearing a kid

lovecocoon.JPG
so my married sisters with children(and some without) have all been home with me this week. i've found the new greatest thing in the world--wearing their kids around. amy has a sling you can put the baby in and wear around like an indian. i love it.
it looks like a cocoon. it makes the baby look like a little balled up bear cub. and it feels so nice to have their warm little body attached to you without having to extend the effort to actually hold it. i now know how kangaroos must feel.
today we all went to town to do some shopping, and i wore marlow all over the mall. i told amy as we were walking in that everyone was going to think she was mine, and i was going to let them think it. sure enough in williams sonoma some other mom walked in wearing a baby and she gave me a big smile. i nudged amy and said, "did you see that? she thinks it's my baby."
i like pretending to be just about anything that i'm not if i can convince myself. so being a mom today was great fun, and yes i know, rather nerdy.

i wore my kids until they were really old. old enough to go fetch the sling when i asked "where's your pouch?". i love the pouch.

Actually the kids look good on you.
If I passed you in the mall, I would think they were yours as well.

Take Care

Not nerdy at all. I think it's neat. You will make an exceptional mother some day!

I love hearing about your family. I have met Amy and her little ones at St.Elmo Pres. I especially appreciate your photography. It is inspiring. Thanks.

confession: i do that, too. when i babysit and have to take the kids places, i don't automatically tell someone the kids aren't mine. unless they ask. then i grudgingly give up the information. but it's nice to have someone smile and think that something so wonderful can belong to me.

hold them tight. : )

deb. thanks. i'm liking kids more and more...especially when i can give them real attention. i thought of your luke a lot today.

sember. thanks. amy told me about meeting you.

steph. i'm glad you pretend too. i like the idea of being a mom, but even more i like to imagine i'm things i'm not. michelle taught me to pretend to be invisible in public. so sometimes when i'm in a weird mood and i don't want anyone to notice me, i pretend they can't see me...if someone glances my way, they're really looking at something past me. pretending to be a mom is more fun though...
