having spent the first seven months of marriage living with family and house-sitting, we finally moved into our own home before christmas. i've taken pictures of the house, and of the holidays, but i cannot locate my camera cord to download them. in the meantime, here are some pictures micah's dad took at the first little party hosted in our home. new years eve we had friends and family over for a house-warming/early birthday party for micah.
we are finally beginning to feel settled into married life. the little things of taking care of a home, and getting ready for a baby are extremely thrilling to us. we feel so very thankful.
i have a little more than a month before my due date arrives. we've settled on the name "calliope ann". calliope is the muse of epic poetry, and ann is a family name. she feels like a fictional character that we've made up and talk constantly about, but who will never come to be. but, so she will.
life is good. my computer access is not constant, but hopefully i can start writing more these coming weeks.

Posted by: Lica at January 13, 2007 04:28 PMCongratulations on your new home. I remember when I was pregnant for the first time the baby seemed so unreal. Seeing the ultra sound and hearing the heart beat makes it seem like something is actually in there (aside from the protuding belly). When your baby comes it is going to be such a life changing thing. It won't always be easy especially the first 3 or so months but it gets easier. I'm sure you have been told this before. :) I love the name you chose for your baby. It is very unique and has a lovely meaning to it. Take care. The next time I visit there will probobly be tons of baby pictures to look at. Can't wait!
Posted by: Salina at January 19, 2007 05:33 PMYour doorjambs remind me of our first home as newlyweds. We rented the bottom floor apartment of an old, two-story house in Massachusetts. Wooden floors, tall windows. Wonderful memories there, even though we moved to Florida (three snowstorms later) after just five months.
